About Medatwal vaishya samaj
About 2000 years ago King Mandhata established a city called Medta in the Marwar region of Rajasthan. There lived a businessman Nabhagaji Maheshwari, his son’s name was Shashtiji. Shashtiji’s guru (teacher) also lived there, his name was Gautamji. Shashtiji’s son was Netaramji and Netaramji’s son was Jagmalji. Jagmalji was working near Raja Mandaleshwar and he was firm devotee of Mata Parvati. One day Jagmalji requested to King to organize a Mela (Gathering) on the holy day of Basant Panchami. The King granted the permission but later on he forgot about Mela.
Then Jagmalji shared this matter with his guru Gautamji. Gautamji suggested to Jagmalji to organize a Jagaran (Group prayers) in the night of Basant Panchami in the temple of Mata Parvati. Jagmalji do the same, when he was deeply engrossed in Jagaran (Group prayers in night), Mata Parvati assured him by sound from sky that she will be always with him in the time of trouble.
As the King knew about this he terminated Jagmalji from his service. Later on Jagmalji get married in Pakhar Nagar, his wife also came to know about Mata Parvati’s boon to Jagmalji. In Vikram Samvat 41 Jagmalji returned to Medta. One day at night while Jagmalji was in deep sleep, King cut his head from his body by sword. Then Jagmalji’s wife went to guru Gautamji with deep sorrow and requested to permit her to be Sati with dead body of her husband. Then Gautamji recited Omkar Mantra, prayered Bhagwan Shankar Parvati. He prayered Mata Parvati to award life to Jagmalji.
Then Bhagwan Shankar appeared there with Mata Parvati and Nandi. Mata Parvati told to Gautamji to sip Amrit and then to spry on the dead body of Jagmalji. As Gautamji followed the instructions of Parvati Jagmalji got alive.
This is the notable fact that two casts come in to existence by two parts of Jagmalji’s body. From the head-Medatwals and from the body –Dhandharji (Rav- a suggestor) born Mata Parvati also cut the head of king Mandaleshwar in punishment. From this place of Medta, Medtawals started worship of Mata Parvati as Maa Falaudi (Awarding fruits to her devotees).
Maa Falaudi also awarded beautiful cloths and ornaments for the brides of Medatwals. Now a day also the same dress has been provided to brides at the time of marriage. Maa Falaudi gave the head of king to Jagmalji and told him to give up Medta from that time on the same day accepting the name Medatwal for his descendents, he left Medta forever.
Jagmalji than came to Khandela, here thirteen sons took birth at Jagmalji’s home and each son of Jagmalji also had four sons. Thus 52 grandsons were there in family of Jagmalji. On the name of these 52 sons, 52 Gotras (Sub-Castes) were named /developed. Gautamji also had three sons.
Gautamji and Jagmalji’s family lived at Khandela up to V.S. 321. Later Falaudi Nagar was established in V.S. 641, a magnificent temple was constructed there called Falaudi Mandir.
Later on descendents of Acharyaji remained in Pushkar, but the persons of Bhandari Gotra and descendents of Rav came to Mohna and lived there. In V.S. 1796 to Khairabad Dham there Seth Dalji Maniram of Patan purchased a land and constructed a huge beautiful and magnificent temple of Maa Falaudi with the cooperation of members of Medatwal Samaj.
Here Maa Falaudi‘s idol was decorated with attractive ornaments and established in the temple. Management of temple was handovered to the committee of Medatwal Samaj. From that time Mela of Basant Panchami after every 12 years started and this is still continue.
